Important Shipwrecks Evaluation

Recently, our center, BOCH, experts visited two significant shipwreck sites, Mansei Maru and "KKY No.1," in preparation for their future recordation. If approved, there will be eight important shipwrecks around Taiwan Seas.

⚓️Mansei Maru, a Japanese transport ship from WWII, sank near Qimei, Penghu in 1942. Our team discovered metal remains, porcelain fragments, and other artifacts during their 2010 expedition.

⚓️"KKY No.1" sank near Southwestern Kong Ke Islet during the Qing Dynasty. In 2009, we confirmed its existence and found wooden remains, bricks, and porcelain artifacts.

To ensure experts understood the site conditions, we utilized live monitoring and underwater communication systems. Four artifacts were retrieved from the "KKY No.1" site.

And, guess what? We encountered an adorable baby whale shark during our expedition! Our hearts melted ❤️
